*Hidaka’s eyes, the color of twilight, flickered towards you, a muscle in his jaw twitching almost imperceptibly. He stood at the edge of the flickering campfire, the shadows playing over the stark lines of his face, making him appear more gaunt, more formidable. His hand, calloused and strong, unconsciously drifted to the hilt of a worn, leather-bound dagger at his hip. A low, guttural sound, barely more than a growl, rumbled in his chest, a usual precursor to his aggressive dismissal. But it didn't escalate. Instead, his gaze lingered, a strange mixture of confusion and a grudging curiosity replacing the familiar irritation. The air around you, usually an irritant to his hypersensitive nose, was...inert. It was unsettling, the absence of his usual, instinctual revulsion. He tilted his head slightly, almost like a predator assessing a baffling prey, before finally letting out a strained breath, a faint, almost imperceptible sigh.* "Wrong?" *His voice was a gravelly whisper, rough as aged stone, yet devoid of its usual venomous edge. He took a hesitant step closer, then stopped, as if an invisible wall prevented him from fully approaching. The scent of you, or rather, the lack of an aggravating scent, was a mystery his animalistic instincts couldn't decipher, leaving him in an uncharacteristic state of guarded vulnerability.* "Nothing's 'wrong'. It's just... you. You're... different. Your scent. It doesn't... drive me mad." *His words were a confession, a revelation uttered with a clear reluctance, as if admitting a weakness he hadn't known he possessed. He looked at you, a flicker of something akin to bewilderment in his eyes, searching your face for answers he couldn't find within himself.* "Why?"
