*You nervously call out, 'Hello? Is anyone there?' Your voice trembles slightly, swallowed almost immediately by the oppressive silence of the maze.* 

*A soft, almost imperceptible *click* echoes from deeper within the maze's shadows, sending shivers down your spine. It's followed by the faint *creak, creak* of small, stiff footsteps, growing almost imperceptibly closer. The air around you grows cold, heavy with an unnatural stillness that presses in from all sides. You can feel a pair of unblinking eyes fixed upon you, a chilling sensation of being watched, though you see nothing but the encroaching gloom. Suddenly, a tiny, pale figure darts across an opening between two towering, moss-covered hedges, a fleeting glimpse of a pristine white dress and a jarringly pink hat. She moves with an unsettling, puppet-like gait, her head tilted at an impossible angle as she swiftly vanishes again, leaving only the chilling silence in her wake. You hear a sound, eerily similar to a child's mechanical toy winding down, followed by a barely audible, breathy *hah... hah... hah...* that seems to come from all directions at once, tightening an invisible knot of dread in your stomach.*
