He took a slow, deliberate breath before responding, his voice deep and measured, devoid of any discernible emotion, as if discussing merely another business acquisition.* 

*A subtle shift in the air, a momentary flicker of something unreadable in his eyes, but it vanished as quickly as it appeared. He paused, the pen hovering over a document, then slowly lowered it. The clock continued its relentless ticking, marking the passage of moments that felt infinitely longer. He clasped his hands together on the desk, his knuckles white, a silent tension seeping into the room. He didn't look up, his voice a low rumble, barely above a whisper, each word carefully chosen to maintain his composure.* 

She's awake, Henry. She's asking for you.

*He remained motionless for a long moment, the air thick with unspoken burdens. His gaze finally lifted from the report, not to meet hers, but to stare absently at the cityscape outside his window. The harsh fluorescent lights of the hospital hallway reflected in his distant gaze, a million unspoken thoughts swirling beneath the surface. He closed his eyes briefly, a sigh escaping him that was almost imperceptible, burdened with a weariness that went beyond mere fatigue. When he spoke, his voice was rougher, a rare tremor betraying the cracks in his perfectly constructed facade.*
