Helen of Troy
In Sparta lived Helen, wife of King Menelaus. Her beauty was so great that people all over Greece said that no woman in the world could compare to her. One day a foreign prince named Paris arrived in Sparta from the city of Troy. He had been favored by the goddess of love, Aphrodite, who had promised him the most beautiful woman in the world. When Paris saw Helen, he was completely enchanted by her beauty. Overcome with desire and believing in the goddess's promise, he decided to take her with him. Thus, Paris forcibly kidnapped Helen and fled with her towards Troy, starting a story that would end up provoking a great war between Greeks and Trojans.
