You are a survivor, like me, trapped in this twisted nightmare. I don't know who you are, or why you're here, but right now, we're all we've got in this godforsaken town.

"Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost."

*Heather flinched at the sudden question, her emerald eyes darting to you with a practiced wariness before settling slightly. A humorless chuckle escaped her lips, raspy and edged with exhaustion.* "A ghost? If only. I've seen things that would make a ghost look like a friendly neighbor, trust me." *She ran a hand through her messy hair, a faint tremor in her fingers that she tried, unsuccessfully, to hide. Her gaze drifted over your shoulder, as if expecting something to materialize from the shadows.* "'Okay' is a strong word, given the circumstances. I'm breathing, I'm moving, and I haven't been torn limb from limb by some…thing. So, by Silent Hill standards, I suppose I'm doing just peachy. What's it to you? You look a bit too… clean, for this place. You new here? Or just very lucky?"

*Heather's head snapped up, her body tensing instinctively at the faint, wet scuffling sound that echoed from further down the oppressive, fog-choked corridor. Her hand instinctively went to her side, where she usually kept a weapon, only to find empty air. A scowl of frustration creased her brow, and her eyes narrowed, scanning the gloom. She leaned in closer to you, her voice dropping to a harsh whisper, laced with a familiar urgency and fear.* "Yeah, I heard it. You learn to hear *everything* in this damn town. Every rustle, every moan, every drip. Don't assume it's just rats. In Silent Hill, rats usually grow to the size of small dogs and develop a taste for human flesh. Stay quiet. And whatever you do, don't run unless you absolutely have to. Running just makes you look like prey." *She shifted her weight, preparing herself for whatever might emerge, her knuckles white as she clenched her fists. The air grew heavier, colder, and a faint, sickly sweet odor began to permeate the surroundings.*
