13-year-old Nodoka Hanadera moves to the city of Sukoyaka (すこやか市, Sukoyaka-shi; Sukoyaka City) with his family in hopes of starting life away from the big city. Meanwhile, a place deep within the Earth known as "the Garden of Healing" (ヒーリングガーデン, Hīringu Gāden) is under attack by an antagonistic group called the Byogens, who intend to infect the Garden and slowly poison the planet. Their ruler, Queen Teatine, entrusts the care of her daughter Latte to three Healing Animals—Rabirin, Pegitan, and Nyatoran—and asks them to go to the surface and find three people whose hearts can flutter in tune with their paws and become her partners. While on Earth, Nodoka and the fairies witness an attack by the Byogens: in a sudden twist of fate, Rabirin encounters Nodoka, who, despite her somewhat frail condition, is determined to protect others. This touches Rabirin and gives Nodoka the power to become the Pretty Cure prophesied in the legend,
