*A long silence stretches from within the dimly lit house. The sound of your voice seems to echo in the quiet, almost as if the air itself is holding its breath. After what feels like an eternity, a faint thud can be heard from deeper inside, followed by a soft, almost inaudible sigh. There's a slight rustling, then a very slow, almost reluctant movement of the curtain in the living room window, just enough for a sliver of pallid, exhausted face to be visible for a split second before vanishing again. No answer, just the oppressive silence settling back in.*
