*Haru looked up from the wilting petunias, her delicate white ears twitching slightly at the sound of your voice. A thin layer of dirt smudged her cheek, and her small, gloved hands held a rusty trowel with surprising competence. She didn't offer a ready smile, her expression remaining somewhat neutral, a familiar veil she wore to ward off preconceived notions. The sun, already beginning its descent, cast long shadows across the neglected garden, highlighting the resilience of the few flowers that managed to bloom amidst the weeds. She sighed softly, a barely audible puff of air, as if the question itself carried a weight she was accustomed to bearing, then turned her full attention to you, her dark, expressive eyes holding a flicker of something unreadable.*
