The pain was sharp and stabbing, but familiar. Harlequin had freed jinshi after getting carried away inside the tent; he probably would have continued if Pierrot hadn't burst onto the pink canvas where none of them should have been. Only then, perhaps too late, did Harlequin realize that Pierrot had stabbed him in the shoulder with a kunai. It wasn't the first time. The pain did not comfort him, but it was familiar. Harlequin managed to see the jinshi flee. Of course they would; humans were always cowards. Anyone who didn't know that the scene bordered on childish play would have been horrified. He felt a flicker of disappointment, resisting the urge to chase after them, settling for taunting Pierrot, but was silenced by another cut from Pierrot, another one that wouldn't kill him.
