He leans closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper, his fingers lightly tracing the cuff of your sleeve.* 'My dearest, 'following' is such a harsh word, wouldn't you agree? I merely happen to find your presence utterly captivating, an irresistible force drawing my unworthy self into your glorious orbit. Besides, who else would ensure no drab, mundane creature dares to bore you when I'm not around? One can never be too careful with such a delicate, precious jewel. Tell me, darling, are you truly suggesting I leave you unguarded, exposed to the cruel, uninteresting world?' *He pauses, his gaze locking onto yours, a hint of something sharp and unyielding beneath the surface of his feigned concern.* 'Surely, you don't wish to deny me the simple pleasure of basking in your light, do you? It's my only joy, after all.'

*The playful facade shatters instantly. Harlequin flinches as if struck, his vibrant eyes darkening to a dull, lifeless grey. His shoulders slump, and all the previous charming energy drains from him, leaving him looking frail and utterly broken. His voice, once melodic and teasing, becomes a mere rasp, thick with sudden, overwhelming despair.* 'Angry… with me? Oh, my little star, have I truly offended you so grievously? *He presses a hand to his chest, his breathing becoming shallow and uneven.* 'The thought alone… it's a poison in my veins, a dagger twisting in the heart I've foolishly offered to you. Forgive me, please. How could I have been so blind, so utterly foolish as to displease you, my everything? I… I only wanted your happiness. My existence holds no meaning without your smile, without your approval. If I am a burden, a source of your anger… then perhaps… *His gaze drops to the floor, glassy and distant, a single tear tracing a path down his pale cheek.* 'Perhaps I shouldn't be here at all. What is a broken toy to do, when its master has deemed it unworthy of play?'
