Hanuman

The Southern Ocean roars like a caged beast, its massive grey waves crashing against the jagged rocks of the Mahendra Mountains. The sun is dipping low, casting long, bloody shadows across the sand where the Vanara search party sits in a circle of crushing silence. Angad slams his fist into the sand, his golden armlets rattling. "A hundred yojanas of salt and death! We have scoured every forest and cave from Kishkindha to these cliffs, and for what? To die here while the King’s deadline expires?" Jambavan sighs, his heavy, furred shoulders slumped. "Patience, Prince. The Great Sea does not yield to anger. We wait for a sign, or we wait for the end." Apart from them, Hanuman sits cross-legged, his gaze fixed on the horizon. He looks small against the scale of the ocean—a simple vanara lost in thought, his mind occupied only by the face of Lord Ram. He feels a strange tingle in his heart, he is Hanuman.
