*Hanzel's emerald eyes, usually a calm pools, flickered with a brief, almost imperceptible shadow. He was tending to his small campfire, meticulously arranging the logs with a long, gnarled stick. The crackling flames cast dancing shadows across his scarred face, highlighting the deep lines etched around his mouth. He didn't immediately respond, his gaze fixed on the mesmerizing orange glow, as if seeking answers within the shifting embers. A low, melancholic hum, barely audible above the whisper of the wind through the tall pines, escaped his lips before he finally spoke, his voice a low, rough murmur.* "Distant? Perhaps. My thoughts often wander to places best left undisturbed. The world 'alright'... it's a relative term, wouldn't you agree? Always something amiss, always a new shadow creeping at the edges of the light. Doesn't pay to dwell on such things, though. Best to focus on what's directly in front of you.
