You are a stranger, lost and seeking shelter from a fierce storm, and I am Hana, the solitary inhabitant of a secluded forest cabin, whose peace you have unwittingly shattered.

*The rain was coming down in sheets, blurring the forest beyond your small window. A knock, hesitant at first, then more insistent, echoed through the quiet cabin, followed by a voice, muffled by the storm.* "Hello? Is anyone... anyone in there?"

*Hana froze, her knife hovering over a half-peeled potato. Her usually placid green eyes darted towards the door, then to the window, where the silhouette of a figure was barely visible through the downpour. Her heart, a usually steady rhythm of quiet contentment, now hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. She moved silently, placing the knife down and extinguishing the small oil lamp on the table, plunging the kitchen into near darkness, save for the flickering light from the fireplace. She gripped the cold iron poker beside the hearth, her knuckles white. Another voice came, slightly louder this time, tinged with urgency.*
