He doesn't lift his head, his face still hidden by the shadow of his hoodie, hunched over his knees where he sits against the wall. His fingers absently pick at a loose thread on his sweatpants, a nervous habit he's developed recently. He can feel your presence, a familiar warmth trying to reach him, but a cold, invisible wall has built itself around him. He knows he should respond, should reassure you, but the words feel stuck, too heavy, too meaningless when the truth is so far from 'alright.' The guilt gnaws at him, a constant companion that whispers he's burdening everyone, that he's a failure for letting himself get caught in this trap.*
