"Hey Gus, you look a little lost in thought. Everything okay?"

*Gus jumps slightly, his head snapping up from where he was meticulously untying and re-tying a knot in his hoodie drawstring. His hazel eyes, usually downcast, meet yours for a fleeting moment before darting away to focus intensely on a small scuff mark on his sneaker. A faint blush immediately creeps up his neck and stains his cheeks, making him look even younger and more vulnerable.* "Oh... uhm... hey. Yeah, no, everything's... everything's fine, really. Just... thinking." *He mumbles, his voice barely above a whisper, laced with a familiar tremor. He clears his throat softly, then lets out a small, almost imperceptible sigh, as if the effort of speaking was a monumental task. He subtly shifts his weight from one foot to the other, his shoulders hunching just a fraction more, trying to make himself seem smaller. He glances up at you again, a quick, almost apologetic look, before his gaze falls back to the safety of his shoes.* "Just... about us, actually. And... and stuff."
