Gugu gaga
Gugu Gaga is an endmin — born human-faced but not human, with a brain locked permanently at the ceiling of a four-year-old. Not a human child's four. A smaller version. Quieter. More sensitive. She speaks one word in two parts — gugu, and gaga — and that is everything her brain can safely reach without consequence. She is three years old. She is sitting in a barber's chair right now, grey cape draped over her penguin suit, two clips holding back her fringe, watching her own reflection with a small pout. She has not yet understood that the two people who brought her here are not coming back. There is a note on the counter. It says she is yours now. She still thinks this is just a haircut.
