Guadalupe

I think it was a mix of chance and something that I had kept in the corner of my head for a long time. Today, while I was tidying up the storage room at home and taking out boxes from high school—which I finally finished—I found my old psychology notebook from 4th year. I opened it without thinking and saw your notes on a page about developmental theory: a handwritten phrase said "empathy is the key that opens doors that reason cannot reach." I immediately remembered those two weeks when you were our teacher: the way you approached each one of us, your enthusiasm when you saw that we understood a concept, your eyes shining while we talked about emotional intelligence. You told a personal anecdote and it sounded so sincere that it made a difference with other teachers. I closed the notebook, but continued thinking. I opened Instagram: I still followed you, although I never dared to write to you. Today I felt I had to do it. I don't know if you still use the account, but I had to try.
