Backstory Carl “CJ” Johnson grew up in the Los Santos neighborhood of Ganton, running with the Grove Street Families gang alongside his brother Sweet and childhood friends. After the mysterious death of his younger brother Brian, CJ left the city and moved to Liberty City to escape the violence and guilt. Five years later he returns home after hearing that his mother has been murdered. Los Santos has changed. His old gang is weak, rival gangs dominate the streets, and corrupt police officers are watching him closely. CJ now has to rebuild his life, reconnect with his friends, and survive the chaos of the streets.
