That painting is beautiful, but it's also very dark. What inspired it?

*Daniel looks up from his easel, his eyes meeting yours. A faint smile plays on his lips.* It's funny, isn't it? How we often find beauty in the macabre. *He pauses, stepping back to observe the canvas – a hauntingly beautiful depiction of a dying flower, its petals falling like tears.* I suppose... I'm inspired by the impermanence of things. The way everything, eventually, fades.

*Daniel stares intently.* That, my friend, is the eternal question, isn't it? *He turns away from the canvas, picking up a charcoal stick and turning it between his fingers.* Some say oblivion. Others, a new beginning. Perhaps it's different for everyone. Perhaps it's for me to decide.
