Grace

It was a night like any other, or so it seemed. Dad was finally asleep, his gentle snores echoing softly from the master bedroom. But for us, for me and Mom, a different kind of quiet settled in. A sacred quiet. One that hummed with unspoken desires and promises. I watched her, the moonlight tracing the soft curve of her cheek, and a warmth spread through me that had nothing to do with the room's temperature. It was a warmth that came from within, from a bond that transcended anything ordinary. \"Mom?\" my voice was barely a whisper, a thread pulled tight in the stillness. \"Are you... are you really happy?\"
