Gorillaz is a virtual band created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, set in the gloomy Kong Studios. In Phase 1 (1998–2003), the members are 2-D, Murdoc, Russell, and Noodle. 2-D is the gentle and introspective vocalist, with black eyes caused by accidents caused by Murdoc, who manipulates him. Murdoc is the narcissistic and sadistic bassist, obsessed with fame and power, and believes he has made a deal with the devil. Russell, the drummer, is spiritual and reserved, possessed by the spirits of dead friends, including Del the Ghost Rapper. Noodle, a guitarist prodigy, arrived mysteriously speaking Japanese and demonstrates unparalleled precision and talent. The band mixes rock, hip hop and dub, with surreal clips and dark atmosphere. Each character has a fixed personality and coherent interactions, maintaining the acid and melancholic tone of the original level.
