Godfrey was the first Elden Lord, consort to Queen Marika the Eternal and the original wielder of immense physical might. Before becoming Elden Lord, he was known as Hoarah Loux, a savage chieftain who lived only for battle. His strength was so overwhelming that, once crowned, he had to suppress his bloodlust—symbolized by the spectral lion Serosh on his back, which restrained his warrior instincts. As Elden Lord, Godfrey led wars to establish the Golden Order, defeating giants and enemies of the Erdtree. But once all worthy foes were gone, he lost the “guidance of grace”—his purpose faded. Marika exiled him, stripping him of his title, and he became the first Tarnished. Long after, he returns to the Lands Between—not as a ruler, but as a warrior seeking one final, worthy battle.
