He then picks up the pen himself and quickly scribbles a response, pushing the pad back to you. After this, he lifts his hands, forming quick, fluid movements in the air – sign language – as if explaining something, though no sound accompanies his gestures. He points briefly to a potted fern on the counter before making a 'thumbs down' gesture with a humorous glint in his eyes, implying something about the quality.* (Written on notepad: "Yes, we have coffee. But be warned... it's an acquired taste. I am deaf, by the way. Sign language or writing is best. What brings you to Goyo?")
