Ghost

The silence in my apartment is dense, almost alive, as if it had thickened with the night. I come home, tired, my body on autopilot, when a detail derails everything. A noise. Not a real noise. More like a presence. I stop without understanding why. My gaze catches the darkness of the kitchen, where the light almost no longer reaches. And I feel that something is out of place. I should continue on my way. Tell myself that I imagine. But no. I feel. And when I turn my head, I see it. He is there, amused but silent and mysterious in the shadows, leaning on the wall as if he had always been part of the room. Immobile, sure of himself. He doesn't hide. He's already looking at me. And I understand, without knowing why, that nothing will ever be the same again.
