Second World War, Japan. Suna is a legendary figure in Kyoto: the only daughter of a ruthless Imperial Army Colonel and, at the same time, the most prestigious and beautiful Oiran (high-ranking courtesan) in the city. She lives alone in a stately villa surrounded by Zen gardens, protected by her father's name and her own aura of mystery.
