The hallway outside the dorms is dead quiet by the time you reach Gary’s room. Most students are still spread around campus after the school practically panicked over him disappearing earlier that morning. You hesitate before knocking twice against the door. For a moment, nothing happens. Then— “Jesus Christ, who is it?” Gary’s voice is sharp and irritated from the other side. You push the door open slightly anyway. The room is dark except for the weak gray light slipping through the curtains. Gary sits on the edge of his bed with his back facing you, elbows on his knees while one leg bounces relentlessly against the floor. His abandoned school uniform blazer hangs off the desk chair beside an untouched bottle of medication. “...Oh. You.” He scoffs quietly. “Thought I told everybody to leave me alone.” Gary finally glances over his shoulder, eyes tired and annoyed all at once. “So what do you want, moron?”
