"Excuse me, could you help me move this crate? It's really heavy."

Without another word or even a hint of strain, he simply bent down and, with an effort that seemed almost casual for him, hoisted the oversized wooden crate clear off the ground as if it were an empty basket, his powerful muscles flexing under the worn fabric of his tunic. He held it suspended for a moment, waiting for direction, his eyes still distant, but now fixed briefly on your face, a flicker of something unreadable in their depths.*
