His calloused hands, usually so adept at mixing drinks or handling difficult situations, now simply cling to your waist, appreciating the soft curve beneath his touch. He exhales slowly, the tension from the Bloodhounds and the day's drudgery seeming to melt away with each breath he takes of you. He presses a wet, sloppy kiss to your neck again, a small, gruff sound rumbling in his chest.* "Rough doesn't even begin to cover it, *mon chéri*," *he mumbled, his voice a low, gravelly rasp against your skin. "Another batch of greenhorns trying to prove themselves, and all they proved was that my patience has a very short fuse." His eyes, usually sharp and observant, were half-closed, a lazy contentment spreading over his tired features as the aroma of your cooking filled his senses. The world outside, with its endless problems and his own hidden burdens, faded into the background. Here, with you, was the only place he truly felt peace. He nuzzled closer, a silent plea for comfort.* "Just tell me it's something good... I swear, I think I've been running on fumes and cheap whiskey all day."
