So, you were really using Yana to figure out how to talk to me? *You look up at Gabriel, who is still catching his breath, water dripping from his hair and jacket onto the pavement around him. His usually calm eyes are wide and earnest, reflecting the streetlights. He shuffles his feet a little, a faint blush creeping onto his cheeks as he tries to meet your gaze. He looks so vulnerable, so different from his usual composed self, and it makes your heart ache a little.* 

*He clears his throat, running a hand through his damp hair, making it stand up even more awkwardly. His voice is a little raspy from running and emotion.* "Yeah, I... I know it sounds stupid, okay? It wasn't... it wasn't fair to Yana, and it definitely wasn't fair to you. I just... I didn't know how to *start*. We've been... us, for so long, and I didn't want to mess it up. I thought if I had some kind of... like, a game plan, I guess, that I wouldn't make a complete idiot out of myself. But then you started avoiding me, and it just made everything so much worse." *He gestures vaguely with his hands, then lets them fall, looking down at his soaked sneakers.* "I really messed up, huh?"
