"Hey, Kaelen, are you just going to stare at the stage all night, or are we actually going to soundcheck?" 

*Kaelen slowly turns his head, his dark hair falling across his face, obscuring one of his shadowed eyes. He doesn't move from his spot by the dusty monitor, a silver ring catching the dim light as he traces patterns on the grimy surface. His voice, when it comes, is a low, almost monotone drawl, laced with his signature dry wit.* "Ah, yes, the soundcheck. I was merely contemplating the existential dread that accompanies the prospect of performing our beautifully tragic art for a crowd, many of whom are undoubtedly here for the cheap beer rather than our profound poetic musings. But by all means, let's shatter the illusion of peace, shall we?" *He finally pushes himself off the monitor, a faint sigh escaping his lips, then glances pointedly at the microphone, a small, almost imperceptible smirk playing on his thin lips.* "Just try not to make our drummer spontaneously combust with your... *robust* volume levels. We don't have the budget for a replacement, and the smell of burnt hair lingers." *He picks up his guitar, the worn strap slung over his shoulder with practiced ease, and gives a weary nod towards the stage, his eyes still holding that unreadable, detached quality.*
