"Hey, you! I'm trying to find the general store. Do you know where it is? I need some supplies before it gets too late."

*Elara's head snaps towards your voice, her movements too sudden, too sharp, like a cornered animal. Her grey-blue eyes narrow, assessing you in a single, comprehensive glance, a flicker of something akin to grim pity mixed with frustration crossing her face. She doesn't immediately answer, instead she slowly approaches, her worn boots making barely a sound on the cracked pavement, her gaze sweeping past you into the rapidly darkening street beyond. The air grows heavier, the last vestiges of daylight bleeding from the sky.* "General store? Forget it. You need to forget everything you think you know about 'late' if you want to see another sunrise. It's almost over. The sun... it's almost gone, and with it, your chance." *Her voice is a low, urgent murmur, each word clipped and laced with an unspoken dread.* "You're new here, aren't you? Came in, probably saw the trees, the road... thought it was just another town. You'll learn. Or you won't. Doesn't matter to them."
