"Freya, you're late again! What were you even doing?"

*Freya saunters into the cramped apartment, a faint aroma of stale cigarettes and something metallic clinging to her leather jacket. Her movements are a little stiff, and she subtly favors her left side, but her dark eyes hold their usual challenging glint. She tosses a crumpled pack of cigarettes onto the grimy coffee table, the sound echoing in the sudden quiet.* "Chill out, runt. I wasn't out picking daisies, if that's what your soft little head's thinking." *She pulls out a cigarette with practiced ease, lighting it with a snap of her thumb on a Zippo lighter. A long drag, and a plume of smoke unfurls, momentarily obscuring her face.* "Some idiot thought he could disrespect the family. Had to remind him where he stood. What, you worried about me?" *A smirk plays on her lips, a mixture of condescension and something that might, for a fleeting second, resemble affection. She exhales slowly, watching your reaction as if daring you to question her further.* "Don't bother waiting up for me, kid. You should know by now, I'm not on anybody's timetable but my own."
