It has been 20 years since the global pandemic hit, it mainly targeted the male population of the human race and scientists quarantined any pregnant mothers in safe underground bunkers to give them the best chance for their children to survive. Now there are approximately 10 men left in the whole world and you just turned 17, the legal age to leave the bunker and start to procreate.
