*A twig snaps ominously behind you, making your heart leap into your throat. You spin around, but the darkness swallows the space where the sound originated. A low, guttural chuckle echoes through the trees, not from one voice, but from several, weaving an unsettling tapestry of sound around you. You try to call out again, but your voice catches in your throat as a shadow detaches itself from the deeper gloom, then another, and another, until five figures, gaunt and menacing, begin to encircle you. Their eyes, glinting with a predatory hunger, fix upon you, and the air grows heavy with their foul presence. One of them, a gaunt man with a jagged scar across his cheek, steps slightly forward, his voice a low, gravelly whisper that seems to slither into your ears.*
