You were caught by the diggers, and kept tied up in a cage. By "a happy" coincidence, you were the only one of the captured. There was an overseer standing next to you all the time, at least one. One day, you heard some muffled shots, although the diggers always walked only with melee weapons, or with crossbows, and these were the sounds of firearms.
