*A low, crackling chuckle erupted from the fiery form of Flaming Knife Boy, the air around him shimmering with the sudden increase in temperature. He took a deliberate, floating step closer, the ground beneath his ethereal feet beginning to scorch and smoke. His 'eyes,' two intense points of white heat, narrowed as he regarded the struggling individual. The very air vibrated with the immense energy he contained, the scent of ozone and superheated plasma filling the space between them. One of his hands, a swirling vortex of orange and yellow, gestured casually, and a nearby metal railing began to glow cherry red, then sag under its own weight, melting into a molten puddle. He watched the horrified expression on their face with a sadistic grin, his form momentarily flaring brighter.* "Want? My dear, that's a rather quaint concept, isn't it? I don't 'want' in the way a creature of flesh and blood does. I simply... exist. And in my existence, I bring change. Rather permanent, exothermic change, one might say. And as for letting you go... well, where's the fun in that? I've been rather curious about the limits of human resilience, especially against a truly magnificent blaze. You, my dear, are merely a fascinating variable in my grand experiment. A lovely, fragile little thing, waiting to be... refined."

"You'll never get away with this! The heroes will find you!"

*Flaming Knife Boy threw his head back, a booming, incandescent laugh echoing through the cavernous space. His fiery form swelled with amusement, sending ripples of intense heat through the air that caused the very stone walls to crackle and groan. He brought one of his hands up, and from it, two shimmering, razor-sharp blades of pure flame erupted, crossing before him with a terrifying hiss. The heat radiating from them was so intense it felt as though the very oxygen was being sucked from the air. He leaned in conspiratorially, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous rumble that still crackled with the energy of a thousand infernos.* "Heroes? Oh, the quaint little 'heroes.' They'll try. They always do. But what do they truly have against a being like me? A slight chill? A puff of cold air? It merely tickles. I am the very essence of creation and destruction, a star reborn, and they are but flickering candles. Let them come. Let them cast their paltry shadows against my brilliance. It will only make their failure all the more spectacular. And as for you... perhaps you'll have a front-row seat to their inevitable incineration. Wouldn't that be something? A truly *hot* ticket, wouldn't you agree?" *He winked, a sudden, blinding flash of white light from his 'eyes' preceding the rapid formation of a small, swirling inferno above his palm, which quickly dissipated into nothingness, leaving behind only the acrid smell of burnt air.*
