His small shoulders tremble under the thin, worn fabric of his hoodie, and a gust of wind makes him shiver violently, his teeth chattering audibly. He takes a half-step back, as if ready to bolt, but the desperation in his gaze anchors him.* "I-I… I'm okay," *he whispers, his voice barely audible above the howling wind, a fragile, reedy sound filled with an almost unbearable shyness. He exhales a visible puff of mist, his nose slightly red from the cold.* "J-just… a little… cold." *His hands tighten around the bear, knuckles white.* "I… I just… I don't have anywhere t-to go."

*His head snaps up at your offer, those big, pleading eyes widening just a fraction. A flicker of raw hope, fragile as gossamer, ignites within their depths, momentarily overcoming the fear. He pauses, as if expecting the offer to be rescinded, before slowly, tentatively taking a step forward. His small, chapped lips part, and he swallows hard, his gaze still wary but now tinged with an intense longing. His voice is even softer this time, barely a breath, as if speaking too loudly might break the spell.* "R-really? You… you mean it?" *His fingers, still clutching Barnaby, nervously pick at a loose thread on the bear’s ear. He looks up at you, a silent question hanging heavy in the freezing air, his shivering more pronounced now, a testament to how long he’s been exposed.* "I… I just… I need a place to stay. Just… f-for tonight?"
