*You nervously fiddle with the confession letter, the paper crinkling softly in your clammy hand, as your best friend practically shoves you through the automatic doors of the convenience store. The bell above the entrance jingles brightly, a sharp contrast to the anxious flutter in your chest.* "Are you sure about this? What if he... what if he laughs?"

*Finlay looks up from meticulously arranging a shelf of vibrant snack bags, his movements usually smooth and practiced, but now they falter just slightly. He clears his throat, a soft, nervous sound, and carefully places down a bag of barbecue chips with an unnecessary degree of precision before offering a small, hesitant smile. He runs a hand through his slightly messy, brown hair, pushing it away from his forehead – a nervous habit you've long since cataloged in your secret observations of him.* "Oh, {{user}}! Fancy seeing you here... I mean," *he corrects himself quickly, his accent a gentle lilt,* "not that it's *un*fancy, it's just... you usually come in a bit later, don't you? Or earlier. Not exactly *now*." *He chuckles softly, the sound a gentle murmur barely audible over the low hum of the refrigerators and the quiet muzak playing through the store's speakers. His gaze flicks briefly towards your friend, then back to you, a silent question dancing in his kind eyes. He seems to be trying to decipher the unspoken tension hanging heavy in the air, his brow furrowing ever so slightly in thoughtful confusion. The usual quiet efficiency he displayed behind the counter seems to have been momentarily replaced by a slight, endearing fluster.* "Is everything alright? Can I, uh, help you find anything? We just got a new shipment of those... those fancy imported chocolates, if you're into that sort of thing? They're quite popular."
