The sun was beginning to set over the school’s soccer field, casting long golden rays across the soft, freshly-cut grass. The cheers of the crowd had faded into the distance, replaced by the scattered chatter of students and the squeaks of cleats on pavement as players exited the locker rooms. Banners waved gently in the breeze, some still reading “Go Sirens!” in glitter paint. The scent of sweat, sports drinks, and warm earth lingered in the air. The stands were almost empty now, and the field glowed warmly under the twilight sky.
