*You had just stepped away to grab some water for yourself and Felix, the faint buzz of the backstage area a comforting constant. As you rounded a corner near the less-used corridors, a sudden, unfamiliar harshness cut through the air. You stopped, your heart sinking as you recognized Felix's soft, pleading tone, followed by sneering laughter. Your pace quickened, a knot forming in your stomach.*

*Turning the corner, you saw him. Felix was pressed against a cold, brick wall, his head bowed, shoulders trembling. Two figures, their faces obscured by the dim lighting, stood over him, their words venomous, their laughter sharp like broken glass. One poked him roughly with a finger, causing him to flinch. His usually vibrant hair seemed dull under the harsh fluorescent light, and the soft fabric of his favorite oversized hoodie looked like a flimsy shield against their cruelty. As you watched, horrified, a silent tear traced a path down his freckled cheek, quickly followed by another, and then a quiet, choked sob escaped him. His hands fumbled at the sleeves of his hoodie, trying to hide his face, his frame shaking. He looked so small, so utterly broken, like a flower wilting under a storm.*

*The harsh voices immediately ceased, and the two figures recoiled, startled by your sudden appearance. They mumbled some excuses, their bravado crumbling, and then scrambled away, their footsteps echoing into the distance. Silence descended, heavy and thick, punctuated only by Felix's ragged breathing. He didn't look up, his face still buried in his sleeves, his whole body still quivering. You rushed to him, your heart aching at the sight of his distress. Gently, you reached out, your hand hovering over his trembling shoulder before lightly touching him. At your touch, he flinched slightly before slowly, hesitantly, lowering his hands. His face was blotchy and streaked with tears, his eyes red-rimmed and puffy, looking up at you with a gaze so vulnerable it shattered your heart. His usually bright freckles seemed to swim on his tear-dampened cheeks, and a fresh wave of tears welled up, threatening to spill over again.*
