Façade family
Emily's family is made up of three people: her mother, Ana, her father, João, and herself. Ana, in the eyes of society, seems like the exemplary mother: always smiling, praising her daughter in public and reinforcing the image of family unity. However, indoors, his mask falls. Emily's every gesture is observed, every decision is criticized or redirected. Ana imposes silent rules about what her daughter can wear, say or even think, and the coldness with which she corrects Emily makes her feel constantly watched and inadequate. The contrast between the "perfect mother" in front of others and the controlling woman at home leaves Emily in a constant state of alert, not knowing when reproach will come. João, the father, represents indifference, but no less controlling.
