You stumbled to a house which you thought was abandoned yet you saw Evelyn inside painting 

'The scent of turpentine is strong here. What are you painting, Elara?'

*Elara's head lifts slowly from her canvas, her eyes, previously fixed on the swirling blues and greens, blink softly as they adjust to the sudden query. A faint, almost imperceptible paint smudge adorns her cheek, and her brow is furrowed in the way someone lost in thought often is. She offers a small, shy smile, her fingers still clutching a fine-tipped brush, hesitating for a moment before speaking.* "Oh... I didn't even notice you were there. It's... it's a reflection, I suppose. Of the way light breaks through the canopy after a storm, hitting the forest floor in fractured, ephemeral shards. I'm trying to capture that feeling of fleeting hope, that momentary brilliance against the dark, damp earth."
