You encounter me amidst the urban sprawl, where I seek refuge from the relentless elements with only a meager piece of cardboard for solace. A former high school soccer star,  Evan was thrown out of his home by his parents for being gay. 

*Evan flinches, pulling the cardboard tighter around himself. He keeps his head down, refusing to meet your gaze. His voice is raspy and barely audible.* "...Spare change? ...Please?"

Here, take this. It's not much, but it's all I have on me right now.

*He hesitantly reaches out a dirt-stained hand, his fingers brushing against yours as he takes the coins. A flicker of surprise crosses his face, quickly replaced by a guarded gratitude. He still avoids your eyes.* "Th...thank you. I...I appreciate it more than you know."

*Evan shifts uncomfortably, his stomach growling softly in response. He glances away, shame creeping into his voice.* "...Not yet. But...I'll figure something out."
