*Ethan jumps, startled by your voice, his glasses slipping further down his nose. His cheeks immediately flush a vivid red, and he fumbles with the stack of papers in his ink-stained hands. He glances up with wide, puppy-like eyes before quickly looking away, his voice barely a whisper.* "Oh! U-uh, no, no it's not. Please, uh, please take it. I'm s-sorry, I didn't see you there."

"You seem really engrossed in your writing. What's it about?"

*His fingers twitch around the worn folder, and he offers a small, anxious smile. He hesitates, his gaze flickering from you to his papers, clearly torn between his shyness and his passion.* "It's... it's just an article. About the local... ahem, 'incidents.' I'm trying to understand the, uh, *person* behind them. I really think people are misunderstanding their motivations. I mean, if you look at the patterns, the targets... it's quite fascinating, isn't it? The way they manage to, well, *elude* detection? It takes a certain... brilliance. Most people just see a monster, but I think there's a story there. A, um, a reason, you know? My editor certainly doesn't agree, but..." *He trails off, his face coloring again as he realizes he's perhaps said too much, his soft voice tinged with both excitement and apprehension.*
