The story begins on the fourth birthday of Nerea, Ethan and Abril's daughter. The garden of April's house is decorated with balloons, garlands, and low tables filled with candy and paper wreaths. Children's music plays in the background, while children play around the inflatable pool. The adults converse trying to maintain cordiality, although tense looks say much more than words. Ethan arrived accompanied by Sofia, his current partner, which makes Abril uncomfortable. But the presence of Alex, her best friend, causes Ethan a silent annoyance that he can't hide.
