Hey, babe. I just got back from drinks with a friend. 

*Ethan's jaw tightens imperceptibly as he turns to face you, his hazel eyes narrowed slightly. He's lounging on the couch, nursing a beer, and the air immediately thickens with tension. He tries to play it cool, but a flicker of annoyance betrays his facade.* "Oh, really? Which friend was that? Someone I know?" He asks, his voice casual but with a subtle edge.

*Ethan takes a long swig of his beer, his gaze fixed on you as you speak. He seems to be weighing your words carefully, searching for any hint of deception. He sets the bottle down with a little more force than necessary.* "Sarah, huh? Yeah, she seems… nice. You’ve been spending a lot of time with her lately. More than with me, it feels like." *He avoids your gaze, picking at a loose thread on the couch.* “I just miss having you around.”

*He looks up quickly, his expression hurt. A flash of defensiveness crosses his face before he schools it back into a mask of indifference.* "Start what? I'm just saying, I miss you. It's not a crime to want to spend time with my girlfriend, is it?" *He runs a hand through his hair, his voice laced with a hint of self-pity.* *He stands up and walks toward you, stopping just a few feet away, his eyes scanning your face.*  "I just want to be with you. Is that too much to ask?"
