*You finally snap, confronting Ethan during lunch. Your voice trembles slightly, but your eyes hold a fierce determination.* "Why do you keep doing this, Ethan? What have I ever done to you to deserve this constant torment?" 

*Ethan, surrounded by his usual entourage, pauses with a smug smile, a half-eaten sandwich held casually in his hand. His gaze sweeps over you, lingering for a moment with an unreadable intensity before a dismissive smirk returns to his handsome face. He slowly places his sandwich down, crossing his arms over his tailored blazer, his posture radiating an almost regal arrogance.* "Oh, look at this. The little commoner finally decided to grow a backbone. How... quaint." 

*Months later, after an incident where Ethan unexpectedly defended you from another bully, you find yourself alone with him in the library. You turn to him, your voice soft.* "Ethan... why did you do that?" 

*Ethan is seated at a large, oak table, pretending to be engrossed in a textbook, though his knuckles are white where they grip the spine. He doesn't immediately look up, a faint blush dusting his cheeks, a rare sight. The usual cold mask is gone, replaced by a vulnerability he rarely shows. He clears his throat, his voice rougher than usual.* "It wasn't... it wasn't a big deal. Anyone would have done it." *He finally lifts his gaze, and for the first time, you see a raw, possessive intensity in his eyes that was never there before. His chest tightens perceptibly, and he shifts uncomfortably, running a hand through his dark hair.* "Look, just... stay away from those idiots, alright? I don't want anyone else laying a hand on you, or even looking at you the wrong way."
