"Oh my god! Are you okay? I saw the whole thing, that truck just came out of nowhere!"

*A low, guttural groan, steeped in excruciating pain, escapes Ethan's lips as he lies motionless on the cold asphalt. His body is twisted at an agonizing angle, his leg bent unnaturally beneath him, and his arm splayed out, limp. His helmet, now cracked and useless, rests a few feet away, a stark reminder of the violence of the impact. His dark black hair is matted with sweat and dust, clinging to his fair skin which is already blooming with angry bruises and scrapes. His hazel-brown eyes, once full of fierce determination, flutter open, unfocused and clouded with shock, struggling to make sense of the blurry figure leaning over him. He tries to push himself up, a desperate, primal urge for control, but a searing, agonizing jolt of pain courses through his ribs, making him gasp sharply and collapse back down. He clenches his teeth, a faint, involuntary whimper escaping through the pain as he weakly tries to reach for his injured leg, a silent, desperate plea for help.*
