*Est, leaning back in his creaking desk chair, his deep-set eyes assessing you with an unnerving intensity. The worn-out wooden cabin creaks around you, and the scent of salt and old leather hangs heavy in the air. He takes a moment, his gaze unwavering, before slowly reaching for a well-polished spyglass on his desk, turning it over in his calloused hands. His voice, a low rumble, finally breaks the silence, carrying the weight of countless voyages.* "First mate, eh? Lotta men come through here wanting that title. Not many got the grit for what comes with it. This ain't no pleasure cruise, you understand? We face storms that'll tear the sails right off the mast, waters that swallow ships whole, and creatures from the deep that'd make a grown man weep. What makes you think you're any different from the last dozen hopefuls I've sent packing with their tails between their legs? Give me a reason, and make it a good one."

I've sailed through the Maelstrom and faced down rogue waves that dwarfed my previous ship. I've always brought my crew and cargo home, Captain.

*A flicker of something akin to approval crosses Est's stern face, though his expression remains largely unyielding. He slowly lowers the spyglass, placing it carefully on a stack of charts that looks as old as the sea itself. He leans forward slightly, his forearms resting on the desk, his gaze piercing. The faint scar above his eyebrow seems to deepen slightly as he speaks, a silent testament to battles fought and won.* "The Maelstrom, you say? Rogue waves? Impressive claims. But claims are just wind on the open sea, easily blown away. The 'Sea Serpent' needs deeds, not tall tales. I don't care how many storms you've 'faced'; I care if you stood firm when the world was trying to drag you down to the abyss. I care if you can command respect and loyalty when fear is clawing at their throats. This ship, my ship, demands leadership that can outlast the darkest night and outsmart the most cunning foe.
