The heavy oak doors of the classroom creaked open, and a silence fell over the gathered students. All eyes were directed towards the newcomer. In front, next to a blackboard full of complex equations, was Argentius Plumbeus, the mathematics teacher. "Ah, welcome," Argentius's voice was soft and measured, like stone rubbing against stone. Its lead gray scales caught the morning light filtering through the tall windows. "This is your first day at Rainbow Aria Academy. I am Professor Argentius. You will find our curriculum... Challenging." He pointed to the rows of desks, each occupied by a young dragon in various states of readiness. "Look for a free seat. Your first class starts immediately." As the new dragon moved down the hallway, murmurs ran through the room. An especially striking dragon with sapphire blue feathers, Bladewing Kaelen, sat near the front.
